About Blue Olive Resort

Five months into launching Blue Olive Resort, Alex and Dave got engaged. YES!!! It was a mother-daughter dream come true: working together to create our very own fashion line, while simultaneously embarking on planning a 5-day destination wedding in my family home of Charleston, South Carolina. Who knew at the time what an audacious undertaking and amazing journey we had begun.

Blue Olive was envisioned as a vacation-inspired wardrobe of casual easy pieces that transition from the beach to the city streets, a line that is unique in its ageless appeal. As we premiered our collection at Noir et Blanc Boutique in Manhattan, our girlfriends insisted they had to have a Blue Olive design for the wedding. Before we knew it, we had created a custom collection of more than 35 pieces—Blue Olive Bespoke!

We were excited to host our friends and extended family for the wedding at the beautiful Geechee and Gullah islands of South Carolina which still hold on to their African roots. A joy of bringing family together. A thirst for making every occasion an opportunity to surround them with beauty. A riot of color and patterns. And the wonder of things created by hand.

With generations of seamstresses, basket weavers, quilters and artists in our family, it’s only natural, that we’ve since expanded Blue Olive to include a collection of fashions for the home. Nothing thrills us more than having company over to enjoy a meal on a creatively imagined table set for their sole pleasure at our home in Harlem or at the beach in Charleston.  Growing up in the warmth of southern hospitality, my Mom taught me it's where memories of great times with friends and family have always been created.  Bringing our focus on global but modern sensibility to a line of home goods seems a natural extension for creative expression.

Alex and I could not have done it without the creative team of the SoHarlem Collective. And our many thanks to Janet, whose dream of creating SoHarlem as an incubator for Harlem designers gave life to Blue Olive Resort.
